Ηere you will see the famous sea caves, where wild pigeons and seals have their nests. They are the `Ipni` (= ovens) of the ancients, in the sea area of which, according to Herodotus, most of Xerxes` fleet was destroyed in 480 BC.
One of the most important sights of the wider area of North and East Pelion, the Caves of Veneto are admired every year by thousands of visitors who get there mainly by boat from Horefto of Zagora.
Of interest to the visitor is the central church of the Assumption of Christ (1767) which has one of the most beautiful wood-carved iconostasis of Pelion.

Flamouri Monastery
To go from the Veneto to the Flamouri Monastery there is an old path - cobbled path (travel time 2 hours and 15 `), but there is also the possibility to go from Koulouri by boat to the coastal and now ruined part of Agios Nikolaos and go up from there to the monastery by a narrow path - cobbled path (travel time 1 hour and 15 `).
It was first built during the reign of Sultan Selim I (1516) by Flampouriaris of Moria Georgios. However, it may have been demolished later because it was rebuilt by Saint Symeon the `monochiton` and `barefoot` from the Death of the Saint at the end of the 16th century. The same was endowed in the following years on the basis of three patriarchal sigils with a huge forest and grassland area which he holds to this day.
The Byzantine style and with five domes catholic of the monastery which is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior was founded by Saint Symeon in 1595 and completed in 1602. Around it there is the famous Athonite square, with chapels, dozens of cells and other auxiliary spaces.
The monastery, which operates uninterruptedly as a male monastery and is an abbey for women, celebrates on August 6, a day when it is flooded with faithful from all over Pelion but also from the interior of Thessaly.
